Hollywood star Will Smith has opened up about the controversy over his assault on Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars and said that he was in a dark place following the incident.
According to TMZ, Will was a bit down after the incident but had Floyd Mayweather there for him.
TMZ has quoted Will saying that Floyd Mayweather called him every day for 10 days after the incident. He just made sure he was okay.

"He would call every day," Smith said, driving home his point. "And 10 days after the Oscars he'd just call me and say, 'Despite what all these fools think of me, you know you're the champ.'"
"That was every day he called me ... and it feels like I've got a friend for life."
According to TMZ, Smith revealed it during a private showing of his new film Emancipation held at a London hotel.
Smith filmed an emotional video on Instagram explaining why he didn't apologise to Rock after accepting the best actor award for his performance in King Richard. He said that Rock, and a few other people, suggested that he was only appeasing them.
"It took so long because I was pretty fogged out," said Smith. "I don't remember much. I just sent a message to Chris and he said he hadn't been ready to talk yet, but when he is, he would get back in touch."
In response to Rock's alleged offensive comments, Smith expressed regret for his own behavior, calling it "unacceptable." He was angered by the joke that referenced Pinkett Smith going bald due to alopecia. It's a struggle that Pinkett Smith has previously addressed publicly.
"That was one of the moments in my life where things don't go well," reflects Smith. "There were many people who got hurt at the time, including Chris's mom."
I don't want anyone to think that Tony was just brought aboard to fill my shoes. He had a great relationship with Chris, and I'm really sorry for all the pain and suffering he has endured because of my bad judgement.
Despite the criticism, Chris Smith is standing by his decision. He admits that his family has received backlash but says, "It's not because of me." The singer says he made a choice on his own and was guided by his own life experiences.

Smith addressed his actions in a video post-win, saying "I won because you voted for me.","When I saw your face, I knew. It really breaks my heart to have stolen and tarnished your moment," he said, pointing to Questlove's reaction who took the Oscars stage right after winning best documentary for his project Summer of Soul.","I'm sorry isn't really sufficient," he finished.
Smith has apologized three times since the altercation during the 91st Academy Awards show in which he assaulted comedian Chris Rock. He made a G.I. Jane joke about Jada Pinkett, and afterwards offered a public apology onstage, and then did so again in an off-camera editorial with Vanity Fair.
Smith has been banned from appearing on stage for 10 years, post which he announced his resignation from the Academy.
